Community Midwives

A community midwife runs an antenatal clinic weekly at the surgery, usually on a Wednesday.  Appointments are made at reception.  Pregnant mothers can contact the midwife for advice at other times by telephoning 01438 314333 and asking for their midwives.  The doctors carry out the postnatal examination eight weeks after the birth.

When you find out you are pregnant, please book a telephone consultation with the doctor to arrange the appropriate referrals.

Community Nurses

A team of experienced community or "district" nurses is provided in this locality.  They are available to provide various nursing duties in the home.  They can be contacted for advice or home visits via the surgery reception.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.  A particularly useful service is the counselling they can offer to women who have experienced a miscarriage and those affected by postnatal depression.

Our health visitors are based at the health centre next door.  It is often worth talking to your health visitor about any child health, illness, or development problem.  This may well save you needing to see the doctor.

To contact the health visitors, telephone 01462 684731 between 09:00 - 12:00.
